I know this will seem a bit out of the ordinary to talk about with what I typically write about these days (hate Tyreke Evans, nod judiciously over Cuz's improvement and hype up any other player who actually hustles and runs an actual NBA play) so admittedly I realize this is above my paygrade. But since when do I give a *insert preferred profane remark here* about such nonsense?

I don't really care about the 1st round pick that will at some point getting sent to Cleveland. Why?

Tyreke Evans is 22.

DeMarcus Cousins is 21.

Isaiah Thomas is 22.

Jimmer Fredette is 23.

Tyler Honeycutt is 21.

Hassan Whiteside is 22.

Marcus Thornton is 24.

Jason Thompson is 25.

There are very few games, especially when it's been a bad team, where the write-ups are really fun to write. One of those reasons is that recaps enforce the idea of recall of what happened that, especially in retrospect, why the game ended up with the outcome that it ended up with. This is one of those games where it seemed like the Kings knew they were going to win, and figured out how to do so. Why? Well, that's after the jump silly rabbit!!!!! Boxscore

Notice the title: I said jump out and maintain a big lead. That's exactly what the Kings did for the most part with the exception of the 2nd quarter when Boston got back into it. Then the Kings blitzed Boston with 41 points, which for Boston is a season high in points allowed in a single quarter, and that was pretty much game. Ray Allen hit some 3's to keep Boston with theoretical striking distance, but Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo did not play very well. That meant at some point Doc Rivers would throw in the white flag, and with about 6 mins remaining in the game Rivers did just that.

As far as the Tyreke Evans stuff pregame, I knew he was doubtful for the game. I didn't write it because, well, I didn't care and didn't see whether it mattered or not.I still don't for that matter. But speaking of Evans, I think it's fair to question whether or not the Derrick Coleman/Isaiah Rider effect is in play with Tyreke. Will Tyreke be one of those guys with the great amount of talent but whose attitude absolutely kills the team around him? Who knows, but given that this team has played well against other big time teams with Evans I suspect playing well is not what tonight was really about. It was about the lights, and nothing else. The Celtics have an old team and were affected by the tremendous play of Jason Thompson, Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Thornton and DeMarcus Cousins (when he wasn't acting the fool of course).

The Kings take their craptastic play in the last 3 games into a match with the almighty aging Boston Celtics.

Can the Kings actually play defense? Can the Kings actually run offense for most of the game if not all? Maybe, maybe not. Time shall tell.

The burning question is will Cousins respond against the Celtics tonight? The greater question is should the Kings draft a player in this draft or not? For me, the answer probably should be yes. At some point, you have to get a young player in the program who gets it combined with a few veterans who can tell Tyreke Evans to grow the fuck up already. Something, anything, needs to be changed with Tyreke if this franchise is going anywhere. Otherwise, the Kings are screwed. And Tyreke is terrible for the most part quite often on 2 ends if the matchup does not go his way. Anything that requires intelligence, know how, or simple understanding is not anything close to Tyreke's wheelhouse. Growth? What growth. There hasn't been any. The reason a team full of role players looks so bad because Cousins hasn't fully grown into his potential quite yet, and Tyreke Evans has vastly underwhelmed as the "star".

So what's going to happen? Honestly, I suspect the Kings will compete and possibly win. It's the Celtics and the "lights" will be on just as they were against the better teams. You don't get anything but loads of criticism and anger when you lose to teams like the Warriors and Pistons, but when you win against the Celtics people beileve in you. For me, it's more telling that this group can't beat the Warriors or Pistons when both teams are offered up on a silver platter to win.

Right now, until Tyreke Evans either A) grows up or B) acts with some level of greater commitment, I'm done with his sorry ass. I'm tired of watching him do the same stupid shake n bake routine and finish with his right hand. It's old, stale and tired. Something new and effective please. Otherwise, fuck off until you become a franchise player. Tyreke: Your primadonna act is both silly and ridiculously retarded. You are not a star. Nobody thinks you're a star in the greater collective NBA community. Only a few smattering of fans really believe in you at this point, and that's because they are mostly naive or choose to be naive. Your play is atrocious, you play on a team with a 33 winning percentage and one of the worst defenses in the league. When you are the "best" player, that is a reflection directly of you. In otherwords, you suck because your team sucks. Welcome to the real world kid. Where people don't give a shit that you're 22 or that you lack purpose or commitment to basic NBA principles. Where people judge you based on a harsh  and ultimately unfair reality for 90% of NBA players. But you're one of those 10% where it's totally fair and realistic to judge you in a harsh and unfair reality. And the reality: You're a so-so NBA player based on your total impact as a player. Which is, incidentally, being supremely kind.

Speaking of the Celtics, and particularly Paul Pierce, I was hoping the Kings could swing a deal for PP34 in part because I was hoping Pierce could slap the stupid out of Tyreke and actually show him what a real star at the NBA (even diminished as Pierce now is) does. Alas, at this trade deadline, it was not meant to be. C'est la vie as they say.

There isn't much to say here so I'll leave this short and very short. The Kings defense was Fucking A beyond even recognizable and outright putrid.

Tomorrow a chance for small (and ultimately not much) redemption against the Detroit Pistons.

UPDATE: Apparently lessons weren't learned. Rinse Wash Repeat. Boxscore of ugliness. Also, death to Tyreke Evans and the idea that he is a star. I'm really glad I didn't watch this game. Onto Friday and probably a better performance because it's the Celtics. Also, the trade deadline is tomorrow. If anything pertinent happens, I'll write it up. If not, I won't.

Like most things, the title says it all really. Tyreke Evans, DeMarcus Cousins and Isaiah Thomas were so sloppy that between those 3 they must have cost the Kings at least 20 points minimum.Tyreke missed one of the easiest layups in the most inexplicable of ways, Cousins couldn't really continue his success after the 3rd qtr, and Thomas hit 2 3's and proceeded to miss everything else (passes, shots or otherwise). That was ballgame right there.

Well.....so much good to say tonight.

I've often killed Tyreke Evans (and had I actually not deleted my pre-game write up would have again) as anyone who has read this site (or witnessed my Twitter account during games) can tell you. The decision making by Tyreke looked like a kid who saw the game a little bit differently than he had in the past. 2 things really stuck out about Tyreke tonight that I hope he understands are what great players do every game: With 28 seconds to go Tyreke turned the burners on  and beat 4 Mavs down the court to get 2 FT attempts. 20 seconds later after a bad call gave Dallas the ball, Tyreke forced Lamar Odom into a difficult shot that cinched the 3rd quarter.

Even though this wasn't the play I described, it was another instance where Tyreke took advantage of the lethargic Dallas team.

Why is this important? 2 reasons. One, Tyreke actually used his incredible talents to create a situation where it forced Dallas to react. Far too often this season, and last season also, Tyreke would react to what's going on instead of forcing the action in the right way. Tonight, even with 9 missed shots, Tyreke's decision making looked like a guy who is attempting to make an adjustment. If this Tyreke Evans shows up every night, and if this Tyreke Evans gets a mid range game or learns how to post SG's up at any point in the next couple years, look out. It's not like Tyreke is actual crap; he just simply was playing like that far too often far too consistently. It should also be noted that Tyreke led the Kings in rebounding with 9.

I'm going to make random notes as I watch because that's all I think this game requires. Nice beginning of the game by Isaiah Thomas with the 3 runners in the lane. That's obviously a nice compliment to Tyreke Evans.

Well, first thing I've noticed is how sloppy the Hornets are with the ball. 3 TO's early on, and that means 20 TO's the rest of the game for the Hornets. Ouch.

Nice pass by Jimmer Fredette to Marcus Thornton (at the 1:14 mark of the 1st quarter) in the open court that results in the layup.

After 1 qtr, the Kings are shooting 57% to the Hornets 52%, are losing the rebounding battle 11-8, and the Hornets have 20 points in the paint to the Kings 16 points in the paint.

Travis Outlaw illustrates again why so many Kings fans do not like him.

2 bad teams square off at Arco for the 2nd time this season. The Kings won the last game when Marcus Thornton and Tyreke Evans got hot. Oh and there was this other little dramedy moment of Westphal telling Cousins to go home. Since then, Westphal got canned, Cousins has behaved much more often under Keith Smart, Smart had his option for next season picked up, and the Kings are still losing. Groovy.

There are days and then there are days. This is one of those days where normally I would be really upset that I cancelled all the work I just wrote out, but well, the Kings are staying in Sacramento. They are signing a 30 year lease in a new building that will keep them there for 30 years. (Or so it's said.)
